I Died Hundreds of Years Ago, Yet I Solve Cases and Ascend to Immortality in the Future

[Updated daily at 9:00 p.m.]

A hundred years ago, a martial arts prodigy with the promise of attaining immortality mysteriously died, becoming a sigh in the legends.

A hundred years later, in an age of peace and prosperity, the Special Affairs Office happened upon a suspicious figure with profound cultivation who might not be human, and issued a nationwide wanted notice.

Bu Gui was traveling far and wide in search of fragments of his master's soul. In the city of Lizhou, he accidentally saved a human who looked just like his master. But the other man was an investigator sent by the Special Affairs Office to look into him.

Suspecting that Lu Shi's origins were connected to his master, Bu Gui traveled with him, and the two joined forces to solve cases.

After several cases:

Bu Gui: You don't still think I'm not human, do you?

Lu Shi: You have the bearing of an immortal. I'd like to invite you to join the Special Affairs Office.

Bu Gui: ?

Not long afterward, the old enemy who had died a hundred years ago broke out of seclusion, stirring up turmoil. As Bu Gui investigated his master's death, the two sides came into direct conflict.

As the events of that year gradually came to light, Bu Gui's identity could no longer remain hidden.

The founder of the Special Affairs Office led the entire organization in paying their respects.

Lu Shi: I flirted with the founding patriarch???

Bu Gui: You have good taste.

Beneath the peace, undercurrents were stirring. The cases brought to the office grew ever stranger, and Bu Gui accidentally uncovered a shocking conspiracy.

As he worked to stop it, Bu Gui's cultivation, long stalled, surged forward. He reforged his body and broke through to the Earth Immortal realm.

Bu Gui, immortal form: You don't still want me to join the Special Affairs Office, do you?

Lu Shi: There's only one thing I want.

Bu Gui: What is it?

Lu Shi: Is the Dream Inn still open? I want to have a dream.

*

To gather information, Bu Gui's Dream Inn only opens late at night. Rumor has it that anyone who enters the Dream Inn can have a dream come true. Early on, Lu Shi stumbled into it by chance, hoping for a nightmare that would help him solve a case.

Later, he wanted to have an erotic dream.

Reading guide:

1. Modern alternate setting with lots of original worldbuilding. My take on cultivation, in a low-immortal, low-fantasy world.

2. Righteous and sincere, occasionally a bit dense gong x Steady, sharp-witted, masterful bluffer shou.

3. Case-solving is the focus.
