One day, as usual, Xiangyang got up at four to go for a morning run.
When he opened the front door, an orange-haired girl around his age stood outside with her hands on her hips, looking furious. "Brother, getting up this early will wear you out!"
Xiangyang: "?"
Xiangyang: "Huh, are you calling me your brother? Did you mistake me for someone else?"
"I'm calling you!" The girl blinked. "Don't you recognize me? I'm your little sister!"
"?"
"?!?!"
Hinata Natsu, a first-year student at Niiyama High, younger sister of national men's volleyball team player Hinata, and a future member of the women's U-18 national team.
For reasons unknown, she traveled back ten years and arrived in her older brother's high school days.
"Natsu, you play volleyball too!"
After figuring out what was going on, Xiangyang was so moved he nearly cried. He struggled to lift his head.
He had to look up at his own little sister, and his voice trembled with shock. "And you're so tall!"
"You'll be even taller than me in the future, won't you? That's amazing! I want to be that tall too. Is there a secret, Natsu?"
"...Brother, are you stupid?"
If Hinata Natsu were asked what returning to her brother's high school days meant to her:
"On the one hand, I want my brother to be able to play volleyball to his heart's content on the court, instead of being forced to leave because of 'that reason.'"
"On the other hand..."
She looked toward the news on the television inside.
Niiyama High was still called Niiyama Girls' High at the time. The star player with short black hair was brought before the camera, smiling shyly.
The glorious history of Niiyama Girls' High, which she had heard about countless times during her own high school years, was unfolding right before her eyes.
"I'm so happy to have the chance to take the court as a teammate of Senior Ten'nai during high school!"
What we're watching now is the men's volleyball quarterfinals... Number 10, Hinata Xiangyang, the shortest middle blocker in the competition, and a powerful attacking force for Karasuno!
It's worth noting that Hinata's younger sister is also competing in the Spring High tournament, as one of Niiyama's two star players.
They are truly a pair of twins! The siblings are shining brightly on the same court!
*Niiyama Girls' High later becomes co-ed. This story came from a sudden idea.
*I wanted to see Xiangyang's reaction to discovering that his little sister would play volleyball in the future.
*Research suggests the claim that "Natsu will be 182 cm tall in the future, taller than Xiangyang" has no clear official basis and is an online guess. In this story, Natsu is 172 cm.
*No romance, just a close platonic bond.
