1.
Princess Wen Linlang of Ning, granddaughter of Emperor Taizong of Yan, was born to a life of privilege, a precious branch of the imperial family.
Duke of Ying Zhu Yu was the greatest hero in the Chu dynasty's conquest of Yan. He grew up in the countryside, enduring hardship and wandering from place to place.
A survey of the history books showed no overlap in their lives, only a blood feud.
That is, until a double burial was unearthed at a construction site. Archaeologists confirmed that the tomb held the Great Yan princess who died for her country, and Zhu Yu, the Chu general who killed her grandfather.
Liang Yuerong, whose favorite pairing had been broken up by the discovery of the joint tomb, searched through the history books but found not a single word about it.
She thought the supposed husband-and-wife tomb must be a far-fetched invention by later generations. These two had never even met. How could they have fallen in love?
After arguing with a rival fan until the early hours, Liang Yuerong opened her eyes again and found herself in the sixteenth year of Kangding.
By then, Luoyang had already fallen, and the emperor was about to flee.
Princess of Ning, the niece of the You Emperor, had just observed the seventh day after Prince Zhao's death. Now she was polishing her sword, ready to enter the palace and kill the corrupt ruler who was bringing ruin to the country and misery to its people.
Liang Yuerong: "?"
Liang Yuerong: "!"
Sister, put the sword down first! That's not how the history books tell it!
2.
On the twenty-fifth day of the seventh month in the sixteenth year of Kangding, Liang Yuerong finally found Zhu Yu.
Before she faded away and departed, she summoned every last bit of strength to pass the princess's final words on to him: "In the spring of the second year of Tianqi, an old friend invites Third Master to meet. I hope, General, that you will remember to keep the appointment."
That was the end, when all was settled.
It was also the beginning of every story.
[Reading Notes]
1. Two female leads, meaning two central protagonists. Liang Yuerong is the primary viewpoint character. A past-life and present-life reunion, with the male lead appearing only in dialogue, but this really is a romance. The core premise is summed up in the final line of the blurb: this is a Möbius strip, and this story is both the ending and the beginning.
2. The one-line summary is just a joke. Anyway, congratulations to Yuerong, who picked the wrong ship in both lifetimes, on finally finding out who her real brother-in-law is.
3. The story is at the center, and the characters serve the plot. The characters' values do not represent the author's. Feedback based on the novel is welcome; excessive interpretations detached from the work itself, as well as categorical judgments and moral condemnation, are not.
4. The emotional development and plot direction were decided from the start. Please don't tell me how to write. You don't need to let me know if you drop the novel.
5. Please be civil and communicate rationally. Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a good time.
Theme: Though the history books forget, the moon shines on us both.
