The Immortal and Demon Chronicles is an online xianxia game. In the game, Shen Zhiyu led the immortal sects to defeat the demons, founded the greatest cultivation sect in the land, unlocked every achievement, and retired from the game, satisfied.
The day after she quit, Shen Zhiyu missed a step and fell into the game world.
The good news was that she had become her own game character, the leader of the greatest cultivation sect.
The bad news was that times had changed. Spiritual energy had dried up, the glories of the past were now history, and the entire cultivation world had entered a severe depression.
In this age of declining spiritual energy, cultivation was difficult. The once-greatest sect had dwindled to a handful of core disciples barely holding it together. Even the demons, who had never given up their schemes, rarely showed themselves anymore. After all, every bit of spiritual energy used was gone for good.
After learning the situation, Shen Zhiyu thought, Is that all? Can't people live without spiritual energy?
She decided to give the cultivation world a shock with technology.

When the age of declining spiritual energy arrived, everyone was certain the cultivation world was beyond saving. But just then, Shen Zhiyu, leader of the greatest cultivation sect, emerged from seclusion.
After coming out of seclusion, Sect Leader Shen said, "The study of immortality is dead. Science must rise."
Someone asked in confusion, "Sect Leader, what is science?"
Sect Leader Shen spoke the world-changing words that would usher in a new era for cultivation: "First, we need electricity."
From then on, under Sect Leader Shen's guidance, the cultivation world gained electricity, light, and hope...
Sect Leader Shen, who had once created a legend of cultivation, created a technological legend once more and became the spiritual savior of countless people.
In the internet's first year, countless cultivators became netizens and plunged into the vast online world.
In the internet's second year, real-name verification became mandatory to ease network congestion. As soon as the rule was introduced, the demons lurking in the shadows were exposed in an instant.
In the internet's fifth year, technology for connecting one's consciousness to the internet had matured. Shen Zhiyu discovered the Heavenly Dao's underlying code and found the cause of the spiritual energy shortage.
After that, the shortage was resolved, and the cultivation world entered an era of great prosperity, with technology and magic flourishing side by side.

After technology rose to prominence, the remnants of the demon race were lured by the internet into surrendering one after another. Only their Demon Lord, Sheng Yan, remained, struggling to hold out.
Outnumbered, the Demon Lord decided on a roundabout strategy. He applied for a job and went undercover as Shen Zhiyu's personal assistant.
To uncover the secrets of science, Sheng Yan first had to win Shen Zhiyu's trust.
At present, the Demon Lord's plan had run into a minor snag. Shen Zhiyu seemed to have grown tired of strawberry cake, so he needed to develop a new flavor as soon as possible.
For the revival of the demon race, he absolutely refused to let anyone else become the number one person in Shen Zhiyu's heart!
