Encountering a Dragon

[Complete. Enjoy!]

Bu Huan:

I have a wish. I hope those who do every kind of evil receive a just sentence, and that good people no longer have to fear standing up for justice.

I have a wish. I hope I can stop suffering and feeling inferior. I hope my tears exist only to water flowers, not to express pity.

Mo Li:

I have a wish. I hope he is always sunny and confident, and always happy.

I have a wish. I hope he is happy forever.

Content warnings:

1. Short story.

2. The main character is the shou.

3. First-person narration.

4. Some angst. Two lifetimes: the first has a bad ending, the second a happy ending.

5. The characters have twisted ways of thinking and personality flaws, and things progress very quickly. Good kids, don't imitate them.

6. This isn't groundbreaking literature. Many of the plot points are familiar classics, because things like this happen far too often in real life, whether you've seen them yourself or only heard about them. Just because they seem far away doesn't mean they don't exist. If it gets you down, get to bed early, wake up early, and have something sweet to cheer yourself up.

[This is only a dream! Don't project it onto reality! The characters' portrayals do not represent the author's values! Every story stands on its own!]

Cultivating the Heavenly Dao

Bian Yuxun transmigrated into a book, specifically a leisurely novel he'd written in his spare time.

He had complicated feelings about the protagonist. He wanted to be the protagonist's... daddy.

And so the doting dad began gathering treasures from across the land to give his precious boy.

He tossed a spirit pill to the protagonist, and Bu Chengchen crushed it. He handed the protagonist a secret manual, and Bu Chengchen burned it. He gave the protagonist some delicious food, and Bu Chengchen ate it.

Bian Yuxun: I created you. Listen to me.

Bu Chengchen: I destroyed you. Watch yourself.

Protagonist: ...

Bian Yuxun: ...

Where did this Bu Chengchen even come from? Why was he always working against him? Bian Yuxun swore he had never written a character like this. Never!

*

Mystery solved: Bu Chengchen turned out to be Bian Yuxun from the future. When Bian Yuxun learned the truth, he was a little dazed, because somewhere along the way, his heart had started beating out of control.

What should he do...

Bian Yuxun: Asking all the immortal sects for advice. What do I do if I look in the mirror and realize I've fallen for my own face?

Immortal sects: ...

Bu Chengchen: Give it a try.

After the deed...

Bian Yuxun: (in tears) If I chopped off my own junk, would I finally be spared this ordeal?

Bian Yuxun: (sighing) For the first time in my life, I regret being so virile.

*

The Land of Primordial Unity is a place where humans, monsters, and demons coexist. There is a mist-shrouded immortal peak at its center, much like the home they once shared. As the sun rose in the east, Bian Yuxun gazed into the clouds, lost in thought.

Bu Chengchen: I'm curious. Among all the living beings you love, has anyone ever loved you?

Bian Yuxun: I'm curious too. If you don't love all living beings, who else could you love?

They fell silent. The only answer seemed to be the person standing before them.

The Great Dao has no form. It turns out every answer lies within 'me.'

Cultivating immortality is about meeting oneself.

In that moment, Bian Yuxun and Bu Chengchen, thwarted by the old Heavenly Dao and unable to ascend, suddenly understood and ascended.

[Bu Chengchen, the gong who is determined to destroy the Heavenly Dao and its chosen son X Bian Yuxun, the shou who thinks he is the Heavenly Dao and works hard to raise its chosen son]

Theme: Love speaks softly, and tenderness soothes the pain.
