I See Beauties as Bare Bones

Historical fantasy x xianxia x ensemble cast x revenge x two equally powerful leads (ensemble cast: the bright moon hanging high x a sea of hatred and passion x love and killing x redemption x forced love x substitute) (Original title: I See Beauties as White Bones)

The first time Jiang Yun heard of Lu Hongni, she was a bright moon hanging high. By the time they met again, she was despised by all, reduced to a pile of white bones.

When Lu Hongni first met Jiang Yun, she thought she was strange, cold, and far too composed for someone her age. Only later did she learn that it wasn't the first time she had met Jiang Yun.

Blurb 2: Lu Hongni, who had slept for ten years, suddenly awoke after she had already turned into a pile of white bones! In her previous life, she was a brilliant prodigy and the celebrated leader of a sect. Yet in the year she was at the height of her glory, the people she trusted and protected joined forces to seal her in the White Bone Temple, cursing her to never be reborn! Reborn, she wants to uncover the truth and clear her name, never trusting anyone so easily again! But the moment she climbs out of her coffin, she meets a strange child.

The strange child is stubborn and quiet, taciturn, and clumsy despite her natural talent. No one knows what secret she carries. She risks her life to take part in the sword tournament, hoping to win first place and then visit the five great sects. While accidentally solving a decade-old mystery involving the Nangong Sect, the two are astonished to discover that Lu Hongni has grown a layer of flesh...

Oh, right, the strange child is named Jiang Yun, and she doesn't like Lu Hongni calling her a child. She has a secret, and it's about Lu Hongni.

Of course, they also meet plenty of strange people along the way: a cold wanderer burdened by a blood feud, a sweet and innocent young lady who helps them out of a sense of justice, a sect's young master whose fame and achievements threaten to overshadow her ruler, and her mischievous little servant, who causes trouble everywhere, pouts, and throws tantrums...

Inspiration: 1. I saw a shadow-puppet show where the White Bone Demon gained another layer of flesh every time the scene changed, until she eventually became human; 2. Everyone has a skeleton in the closet.
