For seventeen years, Yu Xiang's life had been overshadowed by someone named Jiang Ci.
Jiang Ci was handsome, athletic, smart, and excelled in every way: the kind of "perfect kid next door" who had grown up alongside Yu Xiang.
Yu Xiang was handsome and athletic too. His other abilities were unknown, but he rose to any challenge, especially when Jiang Ci was involved.
One day, Yu Xiang's mother earnestly lectured him: "Look at Jiang Ci next door. He's handsome and does well in school, and you..."
Yu Xiang, busy gaming: "Oh, so what? You want me to marry him and bring him home as your son?"
His mother stared at him in shock. She wanted to argue, but didn't know what to say. "That's not..."
Yu Xiang dropped the game and got to his feet. "All right, I'm on it."
But just as he was getting ready to "show off his skills," Jiang Ci came to him first. "You said before that you don't like ugly people. Am I good-looking?"
Yu Xiang froze. "Yes."
Jiang Ci: "We've known each other since we were kids."
Yu Xiang: "Yeah."
Jiang Ci: "Both our names have two characters."
Yu Xiang: "So?"
Jiang Ci concluded with a straight face: "So we're a perfect match."
Yu Xiang: "???"
All-around, aloof, tsundere top student gong x a stubborn shou who refuses to lose
One-on-one, happy ending, mutual devotion

Synopsis for the upcoming novel I Used Fortune-Telling to Lure Away the Mountain God:
Black-hearted mountain god gong x clueless con artist shou
Chi Yue first met the mountain god Mo Qing at a fortune-telling stall beneath a bridge.
"Young sir, I can tell from a quick reading that romance is in your stars today. You're sure to have a passionate encounter tonight." Chi Yue stroked his fake beard, looking inscrutable.
Mo Qing: "Oh?"
Chi Yue: "But I'll need to give you a few pointers to make sure everything goes smoothly."
Mo Qing asked with interest, "Then please enlighten me, sir."
Chi Yue held up one finger. "One hundred taels."
Mo Qing paid without hesitation.
Chi Yue: "Go to the mountain god temple on Shentu Mountain tonight. You won't be disappointed."
But a sudden storm hit that night. On his way home after closing his stall, Chi Yue had no choice but to take shelter from the rain in the mountain god temple, where he came face to face with Mo Qing, who had been waiting there.
Chi Yue: "..." Young sir, let me explain.
Mo Qing smiled at him. "It seems you're the one destined for me."
Chi Yue: "???" No, I'm not!
After that day, everyone in town knew the young fortune-teller had acquired a handsome and elegant companion.
Chi Yue, a con artist posing as a fortune-teller, was now genuinely sweating bullets. "I got it wrong. I'll give your one hundred taels back. Could you please stop following me?"
Mo Qing shook his head. "No. I'm staying with you."
Later, strange changes swept through the town, and one bizarre unsolved case after another emerged. Chi Yue was dragged into it all, forced to deal with monsters and ghosts while dodging the attacks of a mysterious pursuer.
After encountering monsters and ghosts for the nth time, Chi Yue finally snapped. "I give up! Please leave me alone!"
Of course, no one left him alone.
Chi Yue screamed in despair: "Don't come any closer!"
Just as he thought he was doomed, Mo Qing, who usually looked like a gentle scholar, appeared before him like a god descending from the heavens and easily dealt with the whole mess.
Chi Yue stared blankly at Mo Qing, whose appearance had become even more handsome. "You're not human either, are you?"
But Mo Qing seemed like a different person, replying as if he hadn't heard the question at all. "Mountain gods don't show their true forms in front of people. Marry me, Chi Yue."
Chi Yue sensed danger and tried to run, but Mo Qing grabbed him and hauled him back.
"You can't escape."
