After Marrying My Sickly Husband in Someone Else's Place

Lu Zhiyan was born into a humble family in another world. A marriage contract made her take her elder sister's place and marry Pei Yuan, a young general.

Her husband, Pei Yuan, was gentle as jade, with exceptional looks and character. But after returning from an expedition, both his legs were crippled, leaving him unable to stand and often confined to a wheelchair. Fortunately, he treated her considerately, letting her manage all the household affairs. After marriage, they treated each other with respect and courtesy.

He did, however, have one peculiar habit: every night, he needed her to bind his hands with chains. She did not know why he wanted this, but she did as he asked.

Until one day, she drank too much and forgot to restrain him. Half asleep and half awake, she felt him bite her lip, their faces pressed close as they lingered together until late into the night.

"Thirsty?"

Lu Zhiyan nodded. In a daze, she saw her husband rise to his feet and pour her some tea. The tea tasted faintly sweet, spreading across her tongue as he gazed at her with dark eyes and murmured,

"Yanyan, you should be mine."

Pei Yuan should not have cared about the beast trapped inside him.

But every day, he saw the red marks peeking out from her neck. And whenever she was in front of him, she always had to bring up, "Husband, last night..."

As she spoke, she smiled brightly, her cheeks faintly flushed and her eyes shining like stars.

Why should he put up with that?

He was the one who had gone through all the proper betrothal rites and married her. He was her husband.

At dawn, the beaded chain swayed as he kissed her fingertips one by one.

"Yanyan, come here."
