[Nonhuman Sweetheart & Love-Struck Mama's Boy]

/Scrawled handwriting, wrinkled pages/
Yesterday's torrential rain triggered a landslide and collapsed the bridge. Luckily, Old Yu had already gone down the mountain and was unharmed.
The fever brought on nightmares. My head hurts, but... we're together now.
She was right. I'm an idiot.
I'll stop here. The Snake Maiden sacrifice is being held early. Today, we need to set out snake puppets outside the door.

Banner-hanging day. The New Year decorations are red and blue.
The men and women started staying in separate rooms yesterday. I'm still only allowed out once a day, so I can't see her. It's depressing.
...Ever since the day I had that high fever, I keep feeling like there's something on the ceiling. Is it just my imagination?

/Just a few lines/
I brought up the hallucinations to her again. She scolded me for not resting properly. I couldn't argue.
Today we scattered salt and lit candles. As A Xin said, the weather really is always sunny before the sacrifice.
Tomorrow is the most important part of my research project. I need to take good photos and write a proper report.

The sacrifice is over, and she's back to staying here. I can't help wanting to cuddle up to her, but I need to write the report outline.
She borrowed a coiled snake statue from A Xin and brought it back. Research material +1.
The sky is gloomy. Feels like it's going to rain.

/Slightly messy handwriting, written with force/
She disappeared during the storm last night.
After my fever broke, I asked the villagers about her. They said no one like her lived here and advised me to see the ghost master.
On the way, I ran into a Taoist from the Mystic Sect. He advised me not to search for someone I was fated to meet but never meant to be with.
The ghost master also said she couldn't come back and urged me to let go as soon as possible.
I don't believe it.

/Exceptionally neat handwriting, the last three characters slightly wavering/
I'm going into the mountains with the ghost master and the Taoist.
To find her.
? Month ? Day
/Two small lines in handwriting unlike the rest/
I found him. He's adorable. Baby is adorable.
Going out is a hassle, though. I'll swallow him first, then we'll go back together.
? Month ? Day
/Graceful handwriting/
Xiao Chu says I can't tell what [she] feels for me.
But she wants me to bear her children. How could that not be love?

Before You Read:
1. [Highlight: I'm writing from the male lead's perspective because the female lead's perspective would barely be scary at all, and that wouldn't be interesting.]
2. Mild horror with a small amount of Lovecraftian elements. All folklore, religion, geography, history, and other such things in the story are fictional.
3. The male lead is love-struck and trusts the female lead unconditionally, so he may overlook certain details.
4. Contains an atypical male pregnancy plotline. The child is born as a snake, and it will be a long time before it takes human form.
Theme: Love and courage can overcome anything.
