At a Tokyo comic convention, a cosplayer suddenly appears whose look and manner are uncannily true to the original. He quickly catches the attention of countless anime and manga fans.
After photos are uploaded online, people exclaim: He's the real captain of the Shinsengumi's First Division!
Okita died at the end of the shogunate and was reborn in the twenty-first century.
He doesn't understand why he's in this world, and everything around him leaves him bewildered.
Until... he meets two young men dressed in the Shinsengumi's new uniform, with pale blue mountain-pattern haori.
Then they tell him they're his swords.
Okita looks at the two uchigatana at his waist and the katana in his arms: ...
Is something wrong with him, or with those two?
As he walks down unfamiliar streets carrying a huge bag of freebies, after being subjected to an intense sales pitch, Okita wonders: Can his swords really turn into sword warriors?
They do transform, but not quite in the way he expected...
Matsuda: I want to try defusing a bomb with a sword.
Hagi: Wow! Okita, you get carsick?
Hiro: Okita, want to go back to your old line of work?
Okita: Who are these three gorillas? Why are they nothing like the ones in the game!
After learning the truth, a certain Public Security agent says sternly: For everyone's safety, please do not try to deflect bullets with your swords. Thank you.
Reader's Guide:
1. Lots of creative liberties. This story uses Okita's appearance from the Anecdotal Records, but he has three swords: Kiyomitsu, Yasusada, and Kikuzuki.
