Elenor has to find an ordinary human man to marry before she turns twenty-five.
For the umpteenth time, she had been dumped. More precisely, she had been dumped by a human cop named Dick.
She lived in Gotham, while Dick lived in Bludhaven. They were technically in a long-distance relationship, though not quite, since Gotham and Bludhaven weren't far apart. Of course, that didn't stop him from dumping her.
This time, the reason was more outrageous than ever: she wouldn't let him touch her.
“Elenor, why not just find some man and marry him? After the wedding, I'll help you kill him.”
Elenor was wearing an apron and cooking when she heard her older sister Carissa say that. She hurriedly covered her sister's mouth.
“No! You can't! He'd be innocent!”
Carissa looked at her most worrying little sister. She was always so kind. “Then hurry up and find someone else.”
“I'll do my best! I'll go find someone new right away!”
Elenor found herself a new boyfriend. He was gentle and considerate, and seemed like a decent marriage prospect. At least, he loved her enough to keep his life.
Before the engagement, aside from Dick's persistent pestering, Elenor met someone new. He said his name was Nightwing.
He also wanted to be her lover.
Elenor: “What? Th-that doesn't seem right.”
Nightwing: “I'm just kidding, miss. I only wanted to take you to your boyfriend. I saw him cheating on you.”
So Nightwing had been joking. Elenor was so relieved. She'd thought he really wanted to be her lover.
Wait, what had Nightwing just said?
Her umpteenth boyfriend was cheating on her again???
Why was getting married so difficult!
No, wait. How did Nightwing know that was her boyfriend?
Dick found himself a new girlfriend.
Elenor had plenty of good qualities: she was cute, fun, and kind. But she was too innocent.
He decided to break up with her. He just needed a sufficiently outrageous excuse to push her away for good. Soon, he got his wish.
But when he saw Elenor walking with another man, talking to someone else, smiling at someone else...
Why did he suddenly want to bash that guy's head in?
Dick put on his Nightwing identity.
He was going to win her back.
Note: 1. Nightwing is the love interest.
2. Elenor isn't an ordinary person. She isn't even human.
3. More notes may be added later.
