[Dong Fu/Detective Conan] The Genius Painter Makes a Grand Entrance!

The first time Gray Valley Lan met his younger sister was when he was seven.

His father's new wife's unwanted baggage. That's what he thought of her.

The next time he saw her was in the school's art room.

On the canvas was a world Gray Valley had never encountered before.

Quiet hills, flowing streams, gentle water lilies, blazing sunlight. Lines in motion, shifting halos of light, soft colors.

For the first time, he felt beauty through art.

Maybe his sister was a genius, he thought.

An absolute, absolute genius who could make a lasting impression on the Japanese art world.

She was a genius born of silence, a priceless treasure bestowed by God.

“And God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and every winged fowl after its kind: and God saw that it was good.”

She was his sister, his seventh rib. He loved her deeply, and so he walked through the narrow gate.

Nothing reveals the nature of humanity more clearly than the way people die. Some die sadly, inspiring pity; others die having achieved their wishes. Some die without a scratch, yet in the most hideous way, while others are left with nothing but a single finger and die in a way that moves the heart.*

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”

Some people live in heaven, while others fall into hell.

For a while after his family's auto repair shop went bankrupt, Kenji Hagiwara aimlessly wandered the streets.

That night, he saw a beauty that was not of this world.

A bewildered girl stood by the roadside. The convenience store behind her was brightly lit, illuminating the white tendrils swaying behind her. It was strange: though they were white, the tendrils refracted a dazzling array of tiny colors beneath the store's lights.

He opened his eyes wide.

Some terrible force seized his heart, driving him forward, step by step, toward the girl.

Kenji Hagiwara spoke.

PS

The classic trope where everyone loves you.

Let's have some trashy wish-fulfillment, Mary Sue, everyone-loves-her fiction.

Otome-style, with faux siblings who aren't related by blood.

An eccentric younger sister, a genius painter, and an unbeatable character who never has both feet on the ground. She wins everyone over with her art; you could compare her creative ability to mental contamination. Observation requires a dice roll.

*Inspired by the eccentric-girl trope.
