A Straight Guy, Just a Bystander, Gets Targeted

One day, Yu Shu discovers that he seems to be living inside a Jinjiang novel, where every character is gay.

His two roommates have somehow gotten together, his cousin is going through an elaborate campaign to win back his wife, who is a man, and a young professor who only recently started teaching is exchanging flirtatious glances with his friend. Even the two dogs making out by the roadside are both sporting dicks.

Yu Shu maintains a healthy attitude of “none of my business, none of yours,” declaring that as long as it doesn’t involve him, he respects and blesses them all.

Things change one rainy afternoon. Hurrying home, he spots the notorious troublemaker from his class standing in the rain and holding an umbrella over a stray kitten. The fierce look he usually wears seems impossibly tender.

At the same time, a ding sounds in Yu Shu’s head, followed by an unfamiliar System voice.

[You have been bound to the Jinjiang Novel Male Lead System]

[As a single dog who has remained unmatched for 20 years, the System will help you find your destined partner]

[The One Who Is Fierce Toward People but Gentle with Animals Seems a Little Different]

[Yu Shu’s Usually Calm Heart Seems to Be Stirring]

Yu Shu: ...

Yu Shu: Fuck.

.

From that day on, Yu Shu starts getting dragged into one dramatic situation after another.

Walking down the street, he comes across a handsome man who has mysteriously collapsed, covered in blood;

His parents return from abroad with a pretty young man and tell him this is their real biological son;

A transfer student inexplicably hates him and says he’ll betray his feelings in the future;

And someone wants to protect him, telling him that there is true kindness and true love in this world, and he absolutely must not turn evil and destroy it.

The System panics: [Host, you’ve got so many candidates now, cute, handsome, pretty, every kind you could want. Which one are you picking?!]

Yu Shu: I pick you...

The System blushes: [What, you pick me!?]

Yu Shu: I pick your grandma’s leg.
