Is This Basketball Normal?

Kurihara Ryo was an utterly ordinary first-string player on Teiko's basketball team. He'd always thought he was a genius, but after arriving at Teiko, he realized: Oh, so being a genius is just the entry requirement here.

That's right, he's talking about the Generation of Miracles. How could the heavens favor them so much? Giving them unparalleled talent would have been enough, but they even got hair in every color of the rainbow.

Of course, though he felt a little down about it, he could put up with it. They were geniuses among geniuses, while he was at least a genius among ordinary people. It wasn't like he was jealous enough to go crazy.

Kurihara Ryo always thought he could calmly put up with Akashi and the others until graduation. But then he saw them getting more and more outrageous: perfect copying, three-pointers from anywhere, formless shots, the Hammer of Destruction, the Emperor Eye...

All he could say was, "Seriously, is your basketball even normal?"

Especially that Emperor Eye. Did something like that really exist? Oh, and that Zone thing. If he'd never experienced something himself, he could only assume it was fantasy.

He'd made up his mind. After graduation, he'd go to an ordinary high school. He wanted to get away from those geniuses. Victory and genius, neither appealed to him.

Until that day...

"Follow in my footsteps and witness my victory."

The unquestionable, domineering invitation, or rather, command, left Kurihara stunned. He thought this would take him far from his original plan, but...

"All right. I mean, yes, sir."

When it comes to victory and you, it turns out my lack of interest was a lie after all.
