The Amnesiac Wife Is Nailing the Replacement Role

Chi Jingyan wakes up one day to discover that the world he lives in is a book. He's the substitute kept by the male lead, Feng Bohan, for his amusement.

Feng Bohan is depressed after his beloved leaves the country. By chance, he discovers that Chi Jingyan looks about seventy percent like his beloved, then offers him a contract worth two million a month to play the part of a loving partner. When his beloved returns, Chi Jingyan will be abandoned and left dead in the street.

Good. The plot has only just begun, and he has a year before he's abandoned. Chi Jingyan is a D-list actor with no money and no fame. Two million a month? Only an idiot would turn that down.

Hah. What's the point of playing the beloved from the original story? Replacing him is the real goal.

The beloved is aloof and untouchable, so Chi Jingyan acts soft and coquettish.

The beloved is strong enough to lift a cauldron, so Chi Jingyan plays the frail type, coughing up blood and demanding to be carried around or held.

The beloved has never even held Feng Bohan's hand, so Chi Jingyan comes up with all sorts of ways to beg for a place in his bed.

As Feng Bohan gets more and more deeply involved, his gaze grows more affectionate, and he becomes considerate and obedient to Chi Jingyan's every word. Chi Jingyan is satisfied. He'll just wait for the beloved to return in a year, then take the money and run.

Later, Chi Jingyan does run away. After recovering his memories, he runs off with a baby in his belly.

No one told him he could get pregnant!

From the male lead's perspective:

His wife of three years hits his head while filming and loses her memory. She's convinced that she's a substitute for some beloved, and insists on acting out a forced-love story with plenty of physical and emotional torment.

What can a man do when it's his own wife? Indulge her, of course.

Feng Bohan: "Don't smile. When you smile, you don't look like him anymore."

Chi Jingyan curls his lips, secretly delighted, his eyes growing brighter.

"Brother, I won't smile anymore. Please love me."

Feng Bohan: "You're not worthy of my bed."

Chi Jingyan pretends to be heartbroken, then quickly strips naked.

"Cough, cough, cough. Hubby, my back hurts. Rub it for me, please."

Much later.

Feng Bohan: "Wife, you really are my wife."

Chi Jingyan: "I'm not. I didn't. Don't spread rumors."

The good news: His wife is getting more and more clingy.

The bad news: She's only pretending.

The even worse news: His wife ran off with their baby!

Theme: Stay positive and work hard to live well
