Stealing a Wife

Shen Yining, the young lady of the Earl's mansion, married the young master of the Marquis's household. With the wedding candles as their matchmaker and a shared nuptial cup to seal their union, she was quite pleased with her husband.

At daybreak, however, she woke to learn that the man who had shared her bed the night before was not the husband she was supposed to marry, but Xie Xiao, the young prince of the Prince of Nan'an's household!

Clutching the bright red mandarin-duck quilt, her face as white as paper, she could think of only three words.

The sky had fallen.

The day before his wedding, Xie Xiao had stumbled upon his fiancee meeting a man in secret. The man was the young master of the Marquis's household.

The two were even plotting to set their weddings for the same day, cause confusion, and switch the bridal sedan chairs. That way, they could be together in the open, then take Shen Yining in as a concubine.

They were certain that once Xie Xiao discovered the bride was not the right person, he would not consummate the marriage.

His friend patted Xie Xiao on the shoulder and sighed. "I can't decide whether to pity you or Miss Shen. You should call off this marriage as soon as possible. We absolutely can't let that pair of vile lovers get their way."

"What a shame it would be to call off such an interesting wedding." Xie Xiao grinned, carefree and unruly. "I'm not only going through with it, I'm making it a grand affair."
