Taking the Civil Service Exam in Another World, Landing a Job in Heaven!

[Former title: “Chinese Gods, Help Me Ascend the Throne!” The central premise is unchanged]

--Blurb--

Shen Yao had just passed the civil service exam when an accident killed her and she transmigrated.

Before and after transmigrating, all she could do was shout, “Aaaah! My civil service position!”

The bad news: Shen Yao transmigrated to a strange world overrun by supernatural entities, where people survive through the power of gods.

The worse news: She's a princess of a fallen kingdom, stripped of divine protection and on the run from pursuers!

The good news! In a way, she still has her civil service career!

She's an unaffiliated employee of the Heavenly Court in distant Huaxia, but she's eligible to take the civil service exams. How could that not count as a great “position”?

To survive and cultivate, Shen Yao begins working hard to take the civil service exams across worlds.

She sends applications for “online courses” to many gods.

And receives the following replies:

[An ordinary cultivator from beyond our realm? Thanks for applying, but I'm only a ninth-rank immortal. The cosmic barrier prevents me from transmitting teachings. Apply to an immortal official of sixth rank or above. --Helpful Heavenly Court soldier]

[Sorry, mortal cultivator. Granny's training slots are full. Best of luck with your cultivation. --Granny Feng]

[Busy. No time. --Duty Officer Cao]

[Mortal cultivator? You can't practice my arts. --Lord Lei]

After being rejected so many times, Shen Yao is still only a grade-schooler in immortal arts, yet she already knows how hard grad school can be.

At last!

Through her persistent efforts (harassment), she finally gets a training slot.

After learning some basic immortal arts,

Shen Yao takes an online exam across worlds and barely qualifies as a Heavenly Court menial.

As a menial, she can study powerful immortal arts and take the official civil service exam!

She immediately sends applications to the “doctoral advisors,” the great gods who can teach powerful immortal arts across worlds:

[Great Sage! True Lord Erlang! Third Prince!

I've sent you demonstrations of basic immortal arts. I'm applying for postgraduate training and a civil service exam crash course! Please take me on as a student!!! I want to land a job in the Heavenly Court!!!]

In this world, overrun by supernatural entities,

even “Divine Chosen” blessed by the gods risk corruption.

The only exception is Shen Yao, a student of many Chinese gods.

Not only is she immune to corruption,

but after securing a position in the Heavenly Court, she gains the power of [Investiture of the Gods]!

As a ninth-rank immortal official, Shen Yao is still only an [immortal clerk], able to appoint just two [mortal attendants].

Once she is promoted to a sixth-rank immortal official, she becomes a [City God] and can appoint any number of [immortal clerks] and [immortal soldiers] to protect an entire region.

Even when the immortal officials and clerks she appoints have become corrupted, they can return to normal.

With this power, Shen Yao gathers all the finest talents in the land!

Even invading supernatural entities and enemies wielding the powers of otherworldly gods

can only retreat in defeat when faced with the orthodox immortal arts of the Chinese gods that Shen Yao unleashes.

The Divine Chosen of the other world are stunned. What kind of beings are the Chinese gods, exactly?!

In the end, Shen Yao not only unifies the other world,

but also becomes a transcendent immortal sovereign, the other world's most powerful civil servant: the Emperor of the Heavenly Court!
