Jiang Yuechi came to the United States to study with the help of a kind benefactor, but when the benefactor went bankrupt, she had no choice but to interrupt her studies.

To stay and finish her education, she met Felix and threw herself at him.

Felix had the worst temper of anyone she had ever met.

But there was no denying that he was also the best-looking man she had ever seen.

Shrewd, intelligent, and decisive, he was ruthless in his dealings and hard-hearted. As the eldest son of the Aaron family, he inherited everything as a matter of course.

At twenty-four, he made a name for himself on Wall Street overnight,

becoming a celebrated financial prodigy.

But Jiang Yuechi knew it was all a façade.

Arrogance and conceit were built into his very nature. The word “awful” might as well have been made just for him.

At twenty, Jiang Yuechi’s life revolved around her studies and Felix.

She was afraid he would leave her, afraid he would abandon her.

So she did whatever he asked. Her entire life at twenty belonged to him.

But Felix clearly didn’t feel the same way. More than once, he told Jiang Yuechi that she wouldn’t be the only one in his life, and that when he got tired of her, he would replace her.

But before any of that happened, Jiang Yuechi replaced him first.

When her studies abroad were over, she bought a ticket home.

On the day she returned, Felix called to demand an explanation.

She wept uncontrollably. “I didn’t lie to you. I really do love you.”

After hanging up, she wiped away her tears.

Sorry, I did lie to you in the end. But you have to move on.

She saved the money he had given her over the years, built her family a new house, and paid for her grandmother’s medical treatment.

She even bought a spacious apartment in the city outright.

She was very grateful to Felix.

She had thought her life was finally getting back on track.

But then he showed up again.

“After you left me, did you find another dog to your liking, Alice?”

She thought, the dog to his liking is right in front of him.

*The early part of the story takes place abroad. The locations are fictional, and there are many liberties taken with the setting.

The heroine is Chinese. The hero is Chinese-American.

The hero is utterly devoted to the heroine. There is no one else for him, not in the past and not in the future.

Ill-tempered but devoted × gentle, introverted, yet level-headed

Content warning: The hero is ill-tempered, arrogant, conceited, rude, does whatever he pleases, shows no respect for the elderly or kindness to the young, has no compassion or empathy, and has a filthy mouth, among many other flaws. The blurb would be too long if I listed them all.

He won’t improve later, either.

The story’s setting and premise are rather unrealistic.
