Huang Yingying sat in a room with half its walls missing. Mushrooms of different colors spread across the tea-white walls, and green water plants grew in the cracks between broken concrete and rebar. She sat hugging her knees on shattered tiles, while fist-sized giant water bugs circled in the water at her feet like hyenas. Ripples spread across the water nearby, and a head emerged, secretly watching her.
