A Guide to Solving Crimes and Saving Yourself on Your Last Legs [Crime Investigation]

New story: Crossing the River on a Mirror

An ensemble tale in an ancient setting. Enjoy!

"A great show is about to begin."

A major case that has haunted Lin Cong for ten years has resurfaced.

This time, he is determined to clear the world's name.

He leaves the hospital and returns to the Second Criminal Investigation Unit of Teng'an City.

Among the familiar faces, a person who seems somehow familiar suddenly appears.

The new recruit before him smiles, just like the old friend he once knew amid the dappled light of that summer long ago.

*

Organs spilling from a ruptured abdomen, blood gushing everywhere, a ghastly face drained of life, once so full of animation...

The scene Lin Cong witnessed half a year ago suddenly flashes through his mind.

If Old Feng hadn't rushed to the front...

If he'd been more alert at the time...

If he'd managed to stop that person from acting rashly, even if it meant risking the killer's escape, and made sure they stayed alive...

If only...

But there can be no more what-ifs.

Before him lies a "doll" forged from flesh and blood, and a tragedy of devastation and rivers of blood.

In the mirror, whose face is twisted beyond recognition?

They save themselves while pursuing the killer, and are reborn through struggle.

Laughter and anger, joy and sorrow, farewells and reunions.

The road to justice twists and turns.

The Second Criminal Investigation Unit of Teng'an City begins its pursuit of the killer.

◎Tips:

1. Main couple: Yuan Cheng, an outgoing and cheerful new recruit, and Lin Cong, a short-tempered, brooding unit chief.

2. Main plot: Crack the major case involving fourteen missing people.

Side plots: The March 11 Blood Doll Case, the December 7 family massacre, and various flashbacks and future scenes.

3. Content warnings: Profanity in the dialogue; a huge web of relationships among the supporting characters, lots of side couples, something of an ensemble cast; the protagonist smokes!

4. I'm currently transitioning to a new writing style. I'll fix typos, awkward phrasing, and plot holes as soon as possible after posting. Please bear with me. (fidgets with fingers)

5. The update time has been changed to 10:00 p.m.!
