The Perfect Cannon Fodder [Infinite]

“Welcome to the Reboot Game. I’m your butler, Bai Yuzhi.”

The handsome young man wore a fitted, vintage-style butler’s uniform and a monocle. Holding a black riding crop, he gently pressed it against a man’s chest. “I’m the NPC in charge of the entire game. Please follow my instructions to complete your missions.”

Bai Yuzhi curled his lips into a smile and casually pointed the riding crop. “First level: be sure to protect yourselves.”

.

A group of people had been inexplicably dragged into a game, accompanied by an exceedingly delicate NPC who was always getting hurt and would often unleash a devastating attack on them without warning. They had assumed he would make things difficult at every turn, but then they noticed that the NPC only clung to one person.

“Cheng Du, carry me on your back.”

“Cheng Du, we’re about to be attacked. Remember to keep me safe.”

“Cheng Du, how could you leave me behind?”

“...”

This NPC felt so real that they nearly mistook him for an actual person. Then they discovered that they could escape if they killed the NPC at the end.

.

Bai Yuzhi was pinned against a wall. The women’s clothes he wore suited him so well they didn’t look out of place. He licked his lips, arched his neck, and gently raised a leg. “Would you like to date me?”

But the next second, his eyes widened as Cheng Du shoved him straight into a mechanism in the wall. A sharp blade pierced his body. Bai Yuzhi lowered his head in dejection and said sadly, “You don’t like me anymore just because I’m an NPC?”

No one answered. Cheng Du left and escaped to the next instance.

The instant the elevator doors closed, Bai Yuzhi suddenly raised his head. He smiled, gazed steadily at the other man, and tilted his head slightly.

.

“I’m your attending physician. You can call me Bai Yuzhi.”

Wearing a doctor’s uniform, Bai Yuzhi spun a pen in his hand. He raised it and gestured vaguely toward Cheng Du. “The game begins now. Be sure to stay alive.”

Everyone noticed that he was still clinging to Cheng Du, but he had forgotten all his previous memories.

Just as before, he asked Cheng Du, “Would you like to date me?”

.

But the moment Cheng Du said yes, Bai Yuzhi changed his mind. He gently pushed the man away and lifted his head with a smile. His thin clothes were already covered in countless wounds. He said:

“I’m just an NPC. Kill me, and forget me.”
