After Losing My Memory, I Became My Archenemy's Canary

A heads-up: This is a short, self-indulgent danmei story full of outrageous melodrama and tragic, obsessive love. Read with caution.

Fang Ling had lost his memory. When he opened his eyes in an unfamiliar estate, the only person by his side was an elderly butler with white hair.

The butler told him he was Mr. Gu's young lover, a rebellious, headstrong punk who had lost his memory in a racing accident.

Flights from across the ocean were sometimes delayed. On a misty, drizzling night, Fang Ling was fiddling with the unfamiliar racing gear when he heard the door open and looked up to see the legendary Mr. Gu.

The handsome man stared at Fang Ling in a daze, raindrops clinging to his brows and eyes.

The man had taken a flight lasting more than ten hours and abandoned a crucial business deal to hurry back.

All because he'd heard that Fang Ling had woken up.

Then came a flurry of kisses, still carrying the chill of the rain outside. Even Fang Ling's body seemed more familiar with the other man than his mind was.

Everything was wonderful, but Fang Ling couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

It wasn't until he stumbled upon a photo in the basement that he understood. The man in it wore gold-rimmed glasses, with a cool, elegant air.

The plastic covering was covered in fingerprints, and the familiar handwriting read, "immortal beloved."

Fang Ling traced the face in the photo. The man looked seven or eight tenths like him. He sneered. "Eternal beloved?"

So this was the person Mr. Gu truly loved. Fang Ling was just a replacement.

What a scumbag. Whoever wants to be his replacement can have the job. Fang Ling was done with him.

The next day, Fang Ling ran away.

There was a fresh bit of gossip in their circle. Workaholic Gu Jingming was pursuing a young man like a madman. The young man's looks were seven or eight tenths like Jiang Ling, who had tragically drowned after a skydiving accident.

The Gu and Jiang families had never gotten along, so everyone thought Gu Jingming was humiliating the Jiang family this way.

That was, until someone saw Gu Jingming standing beneath the young man's apartment in the rain, begging him to get back together.

Later, after regaining his memories, the young man ripped out his earrings and crushed them underfoot in front of Gu Jingming. "Gu Jingming, you imprisoned me while I had amnesia, then tricked me into being your lover. Did you enjoy that?"

But Gu Jingming smiled and kissed the young man's earlobe. "I know I'm despicable, but in the end, I still got you, didn't I?"
