Back to the Nineties to Inherit a Sichuan Restaurant [Gourmet]

Lu Qingyao opened her eyes and found herself back in 1990.

The good news: She had inherited her family's Sichuan restaurant.

The bad news: The place was on the verge of closing, and creditors were blocking the door.

A food documentary director from the future, Lu Qingyao smiled at the familiar stove. Here was her chance to get back to her old career!

When word spread that the struggling Sichuan restaurant next door had reopened, the neighbors just shook their heads. "I doubt this girl will last three months."

But before long, the restaurant was packed with customers.

"Boss Lu, your twice-cooked pork is addictive! I've eaten it every day for a week!"

"Boss Lu, don't clear away those leftovers yet. I'll go home and get a bowl to take them back. I'll toss them with noodles tomorrow morning!"

"Boss Lu, my dad wanted nothing more than this liver and kidney stir-fry before he died. Thank you..."

Starting with a single serving of mapo tofu, Lu Qingyao turned a restaurant on the verge of closure into a nationwide chain.

Liang Renzhi was a major player in Hong Kong. Invited to return to the mainland to invest, he had little faith in this backward little city. But then he stepped into Lu Qingyao's small restaurant.

He ordered the much-recommended mapo tofu. The tofu was tender but intact, the minced meat crisp and fragrant, and the gleaming red oil coated every piece. One bite unleashed a burst of numbing spice, heat, freshness, fragrance, and warmth.

When he looked up at Lu Qingyao, whose eyes sparkled, Liang Renzhi left both his heart and himself on the mainland.

A feel-good food and business story, following the heroine's journey from a roadside eatery to a restaurant chain.

The warmth of everyday life and the kindness of ordinary people.

A beautiful, confident, bold female restaurant owner vs. a seemingly refined Hong Kong tycoon who is completely captivated by good food and a beautiful woman.
