[Female Lead's Perspective]
In college, Yu Huan made a bet with someone: she would win over the aloof campus heartthrob Fu Shiyan, then dump him and watch him cry his eyes out over her.
Yu Huan didn't win. She did manage to get Fu Shiyan, but when she broke up with him, his expression stayed calm and unruffled.
It turned out Fu Shiyan had known about her bet with the other person all along. From the moment she started pursuing him, he had watched on coldly.
Yu Huan fled in a panic after graduation. Years later, when she ran into Fu Shiyan again, she was on a blind date, desperate to get married so she could claim an inheritance.
Fu Shiyan sat at the next table and overheard her blind date dinner. He looked indifferent from beginning to end, just as he had when she broke up with him all those years ago.
Yu Huan thought this chance encounter would be the last time she ever saw Fu Shiyan, but the very next day she ran into him again at her door. Fu Shiyan looked as if he hadn't slept all night. His voice was low and hoarse. "Weren't you in a hurry to get married?"
He seemed impatient and agitated, and his second sentence to her was, "Let's go to the Civil Affairs Bureau."
It was only a marriage of convenience. Yu Huan didn't mind marrying a former boyfriend, but she had to tell him about her situation before the wedding.
"I've been married once before." Yu Huan saw Fu Shiyan's expression turn rigid and cold. She paused, then continued, "And I have a child."
[Male Lead's Perspective]
Back in college, Fu Shiyan already knew Yu Huan was making a bet with someone when she approached him.
But later, when their relationship was sweet, even he thought Yu Huan would never say those words: "Let's break up."
When he was young, his pride mattered more than anything. So when Yu Huan broke up with him at graduation, he agreed without a hint of emotion, as if he had never cared about her.
Back then, he thought Yu Huan was just a passing fancy. But when longing gnawed at him and he could no longer find her, he gradually realized she was the one lifetime he could never move on from.
How could he let her go again when he'd finally found her? It didn't matter if she didn't love him, or if she had an ex-husband and a child. She would never leave him again for as long as they lived.
