.
One day. An utterly ordinary day.
People went about their usual routines: working, studying, having fun.
Then, in the very next second, every human being with sentience looked up in unison, seeing a vast, illusory projection in the sky.
On one side, a forest of steel and concrete, with traffic streaming through the streets. On the other, sacred and devout churches and temples.
All around the world, at that very moment.
Everyone heard a garbled, indistinct voice.
“When science and magic converge, the story will begin again.”
*
After that, the world seemed to change.
A short red-haired girl loudly proclaimed the great name of the “Golden Dawn.” The Holy Right brought salvation to the world, while a gloomy, obsessive young man with blond hair wandered through the darkness.
A timid, unremarkable high school student cast everything aside. The Golden Hound climbed into a mecha, while a snow-haired, red-eyed director watched coldly from the sidelines.
*
The side of magic proudly declared: “Our will cannot be defied.”
The side of science laughed scornfully: “This is our era.”

All of the above were my secret identities. Me, the real person, was only behind the scenes. Accelerator: “…”
Sorry, but having lots of secret identities (Dark Matter) really does let you do whatever you want.
This story is also known as I’m a Stand-In, Yet I’m Pining for the Original.
That gives away the pairing.
◆Reader’s Guide:
◇I’m a little tired of writing secret identity stories, so I might change this into a non-secret identity story, but the protagonist and pairing will stay the same.
◇Closely connected to works in the same series. Don’t read if you don’t like that.
◇Characters may be out of character; headcanons abound.
◇Uses the A Certain Magical Index novel setting. Accelerator’s gender is unknown, and the romantic orientation in this story is unclear. Readers who only like BL, beware.
◇The blurb may be revised before the story begins.
◇Maybe I won’t start writing it at all. (doge)
