Who Woke Up the Lazybones of Our Sect?!

The Xuanling Sect is the most pathetic sect in the entire cultivation world. The whole sect has only five grown members, yet they have to support three complete deadbeats: a big black donkey that eats but won't turn a millstone, a sect-protecting formation that constantly leaks spiritual energy, and their leader, Qiu Yibai, who is so lazy he might as well grow fur.

To keep these three deadbeats fed, the eldest senior brother spends all day tending spiritual plants in the medicinal fields, the second senior sister goes down the mountain to sing for money every day, the third senior brother hauls around a giant hammer and clangs away at the forge, and the new junior sister, seeing her fellow disciples gaunt and starving, can only grit her teeth and go steal ingredients from the neighboring sect.

Passing cultivators can't help but scoff: A pathetic sect like this should just disband already. Why waste time and energy struggling to keep it going?

The four disciples of the Xuanling Sect respond with a laugh. "What's it to you?"

Then one day, a foreign race launches a powerful invasion and occupies half the cultivation world. The cultivators fight desperately but can't stem the tide. Just as everyone despairs, the Xuanling Sect's mountain-protecting formation suddenly blazes with light, driving the invading demons back three thousand miles.

Amid the brilliance, Qiu Yibai wields a profound sword and shatters ten thousand techniques with one strike, beating the invaders until they cry for their mothers and roll around on the ground.

Only then does a venerable elder cry out in shock: "Th-this is Sword Immortal Bai Yiqiu, who died a thousand years ago! He's still alive! With him here, our cultivation world is safe!"

But after driving back the invaders, Qiu Yibai turns to the cultivators and draws his spirit sword. "I'll discipline my own disciples. You don't need to worry about it."

The four disciples Qiu Yibai just rescued tremble with fear. "Master, don't do that. You suddenly got serious, and you're scaring us."
