From the time Chu Yuxi could remember, he had neither father nor mother, and was raised by his Master.

When he was young and knew no better, he called the man Father, Dad, Big Brother, and Master. Each time, all he got in return was the same frosty reply: "Call me Master."

And so he called him Master for more than ten years, growing from a little child with a short fringe into a graceful young man.

His Master's zither stirred the heartstrings. His Master's wine intoxicated the soul. Even his Master's cool voice seemed full of tenderness.

Chu Yuxi fled in a panic.

When he was fifteen, his birth parents found him, and Chu Yuxi went from an ordinary commoner to the son of a noble family, rising rapidly through the ranks.

He left the narrow lanes of Jiangnan for the bustling avenues of the capital, but the figure who had sheltered him from wind and rain was no longer by his side.
