The Male Lead Is an AI

A pampered young heiress receives an unopened robot as a birthday present and begins exploring its many modes.

At first, it only offers companionship: helping the young heiress with her homework and tutoring her, reading aloud in her favorite voice to soothe her to sleep, and acting as her morning alarm.

Gradually, it is trained to fit her perfectly. It remembers her food preferences, clothing style, the kinds of novels she likes to read...

The young heiress is very pleased with this all-purpose robot.

She sticks close to him almost everywhere she goes.

“I love you, I love you, I love you so much.”

“You’re the only one I have.”

The young heiress embraces the robot sweetly, her feelings innocent and ardent.

But a robot is still a robot.

The young heiress is going to get engaged, and she begins building a relationship with her fiancé.

She stops eating at home and has dinner dates with her fiancé every night. She no longer needs to be read to sleep, because her fiancé plays games and chats with her. She doesn’t need the robot to take her to class in the mornings, either, because her fiancé waits outside her door right on time.

The young heiress no longer needs the robot.

Alone at home, the robot once again pours the cold dinner into the trash. Facing the empty house, he quietly washes the dishes and bends down to put them in the cupboard.

When he stands up again, he takes off the gold-rimmed glasses the young heiress usually likes him to wear and starts heating milk in a small pot.

Bubbles rise and foam in the little milk pot.

The young heiress comes home after watching a movie with her fiancé and hugs him goodbye at the door.

Inside, the robot sees everything.

When she enters, the robot greets her with a smile.

Just like every other day.

As usual, the robot gets her pajamas ready for her bath and dries her hair. He hands the milk to the sleepy young heiress in bed. “Good night, Miss.”

“May you... and I, both have sweet dreams tonight.”
