Wait, How Did Telling Fortunes End Up Bothering the Police?

Si Qing opened her eyes to find that the mortal world was now five hundred years in the future.

Five hundred years ago, she had shouldered a great responsibility for the Daoist sect. To repel the enemy forces, she led her junior brothers and sisters into battle, ultimately dying on the battlefield.

Five hundred years later, she was reborn as a disgraced young actress abandoned by her agency.

Si Qing looked at the negative balance in her bank account, then at the overpass where she had spent the night sheltering from the rain. At last, she decided to return to her old line of work.

In the bustling downtown streets, Si Qing found a table, made a fortune-telling sign on her phone, and propped it up on the table.

She glanced at the man next door, who was pretending to grill skewers, and spoke up.

"Uncle, your colleagues are watching the wrong person. Look."

She pointed at a man passing by the stall, wearing a mask as he walked away.

"He's the drug dealer you've all been watching. If you don't arrest him now, he'll get away."

The eyes above the man's mask darted about. He took off running.

The crowd erupted into an uproar.

The uncle tossed aside his basting brush and raced after him.

Before long, the local police department issued an announcement: the head of an international drug trafficking ring had been arrested. It turned out the man grilling chicken wings had been an undercover cop.

After that, Si Qing's stall became an overnight sensation, and crowds gathered to have their fortunes told.

"Stop burning paper effigies for Qingming Festival. You keep dreaming of your grandma crying because she really can't afford to pay her servants anymore."

"You think there's always a foul smell in your house? Of course there is. Someone's sealed a body inside your cement wall!"

Suddenly, Si Qing noticed a boy around ten years old timidly watching from nearby. She frowned, stopped telling fortunes, and called the police.

"Hello, 110? Someone's trying to murder my client's older brother. There are three of them, and they've dug a pit. The kid's being beaten right now. Hurry!"

The police rushed to the scene and indeed rescued a child who was on the verge of being murdered.

Overnight, videos of Si Qing telling fortunes shot to the top of a trending list on a short-video platform.
