Feng Zhenlin x Lu Zhao
After his grandfather died, Lu Zhao returned to Shuitan Village to take care of the funeral arrangements.
While sorting through his grandfather's belongings, he found an old, worn notebook.
Lu Zhao's parents had both died, leaving him and his grandfather to depend on each other. His grandfather was a well-known Taoist ritual master in Shuitan Village. People often asked him to bless objects, set up kitchen gods, cure illnesses, and tell fortunes. This was how he made a living. Together with the money Lu Zhao's parents had left behind, the two of them were not rich, but they lived a stable life.
As a child, Lu Zhao had been curious about these things, but his grandfather never told him much. He only warned him to "respect the spirits, but keep your distance," and told him to study hard and go to school.
As Lu Zhao read the notebook, he felt as though his grandfather were still by his side.
Before he knew it, night had fallen. Lu Zhao went to sleep in the house.
He furrowed his brow in his sleep. In his dream, he was at the pool he used to visit as a child, playing in the water by the bank. He looked down and stirred the surface with his hand. Through the murky ripples, he met a pair of eyes.
Lu Zhao jolted awake. A towering black figure stood beside his bed.
Reader's note:
1. The top is not human, but he is not a ghost either. Ghosts do not exist in this story's world. The bottom is human, but the two will not have a lifespan disparity: the top can let the bottom live as long as he does. This story is entirely fictional, so please don't apply it to real life.
2. No controlling or manipulating the characters, no ship-breaking or ship-reversing, and no dream-based pairings. The couple are each other's one and only, in both body and heart, and they are made for each other.
3. Dual perspectives. The story will experiment with an episodic format, mostly featuring sweet everyday adventures with the couple, alongside an overarching plot.
