Married Again

After the Song family fell on hard times, Song Chenxiang had no choice but to marry the family's former groom.

The groom was tall, quiet, and handsome.

Proud and haughty, she scolded and berated him time and again, but he never got angry.

At night, however, the man grew quite a temper.

Song Chenxiang would bite his shoulder in fury.

She was always afraid she would die right there in his arms.

Later, the Song family rose again and sent someone to bring Song Chenxiang back to Chang'an.

After a long silence, Cheng Xiu took the initiative and told her to go.

"No one will ever know we were married. Don't worry."

His considerate offer only made Song Chenxiang feel angry and resentful.

She had her pride.

In the end, she left him with one parting remark: "Don't regret this."

Cheng Xiu stood outside the newly built blue-brick house and watched her leave.

The Song family wanted to arrange a marriage for Song Chenxiang.

The realm was ravaged by war, and the situation was unstable. They needed an unbreakable marriage alliance.

Her parents laid out the family's interests and difficulties in painstaking detail.

Song Chenxiang knew she had no right to refuse.

Resigned to her fate, Song Chenxiang climbed into the bridal sedan.

It was her second time as a bride, but she felt worse than she had the first time.

She found herself missing the man she had scorned for knowing nothing but brute force.

A commotion erupted outside the sedan.

The bridal curtain was lifted.

Song Chenxiang looked at the person who had arrived, dazed.

"I'm here to steal you away."

Cheng Xiu was brief and to the point as he held out his hand.

"Will you come with me?"

Song Chenxiang laughed in disbelief.

Who asks the bride whether she wants to go with him when he's stealing her away?!
