One of the king-class monsters from the spirit world loses a competition and flees to the human world, where it enters the body of a recently deceased human to recover.

Everyone's mental state seems to be in a bad way these days, and somehow his deranged, twisted novels get published and become runaway bestsellers.
On the day Tao Jin hands in his resignation, his boss cries with joy and gives him severance pay without even being asked.
Tao Jin happily takes the money to his novel's signing event. But once the event starts, a team from the Monster Control Bureau walks in, saying that he and his novel are suspected of being involved in multiple monster-related crimes.
Unable to believe it, Tao Jin is taken away for questioning on the spot.
