#Because of his red vertical pupils and black curly hair, he was nearly killed by someone wearing sun-shaped earrings#
Before the tragedy, Kitsunezaki was sent by the Hell Assistant to Peach Blossom Village to pick someone up. Apparently, someone who’d gone to the wrong heaven had insisted on coming to Hell.
If he was going to Peach Blossom Village, wasn’t it perfectly reasonable to go collect a debt from Bai Ze? Lady Daji would give him a little bonus if he managed to get it.
In the middle of collecting the debt, that man suddenly appeared and drew his sword without a word. Kitsunezaki had almost died young.
The man kept muttering about atoning for Lord Elder Brother so they could reincarnate together, but he’d ended up in the wrong world and the wrong Hell. His Lord Elder Brother wasn’t here.
As it happened, the Assistant was short-handed. He’d heard that other worlds had plenty of people who could be dragged in and exploited, cough, reformed into trainee wardens. The two hit it off at once.
Hell was short on free wardens who could handle high pressure, so Kitsunezaki was given a huge quota of people to capture.
…
He made it to the other world, but arrived many years too late. After learning the man’s story, Kitsunezaki told him to stay out of sight for now, so the Demon Progenitor wouldn’t disappear into hiding for another few decades. Otherwise, Kitsunezaki’s quota would be ruined, and so would his bonus.
As a fox spirit dragged to Hell by the Assistant to atone for his sins, his current pay was only a cafeteria card. If he missed out on the bonus, he’d kick himself.
After a bit of planning, an “oni” who wasn’t afraid of sunlight appeared out of nowhere.
The Demon Progenitor was delighted and sent his employees to search for it, but one after another, they went missing. Even his four-hundred-year business partner disappeared. Before contact was lost, he saw a familiar earring in the image sent by the other party.
The Demon Progenitor: “??!” He planned to stay in the Infinite Fortress for a hundred years.
It wasn’t only demons who showed up. Humans came too, and they attacked without a word.
Could he count special humans toward his quota and take them back? Could he exchange them for a bonus? Kitsunezaki fell into thought.
When he made his intentions clear, the gentle master on the other side gave him a huge sum of money to catch demons. What a great guy! Kitsunezaki decided to leave not a single demon alive in this world.
It was fine if the demons refused to talk. He might not be good at much else, but he was especially good at tracking people and helping them get some sun.
