In short: A chaotic love story about killing off villainous husbands and dating with their inheritances.
Yuka, soon to become a university student, found a historically themed, highly realistic dating sim while working part-time. She planned to travel through different eras and indulge in romance with plenty of paper-thin characters who would absolutely adore her and never talk back.
But perhaps her subconscious expectations influenced the game's AI when it automatically generated her identity.
...Yuka's eager desire for money and her hatred of being an old maid (servant) merged into one, creating the perfect in-game identity.
She was either a widow or a young bride just waiting for her husband to die, turning a dating sim into a full-fledged widow simulator.
She watched the love-interest queue in the game System.
She listened to the hollow condolences offered by the supposed relatives and friends who had come to the funeral.
Then she looked down at the list of the supposed deceased husband's inheritance in her hands.
...Having suddenly become a wealthy widow, Yuka instinctively wiped away nonexistent tears with banknotes and put on her radiant, husband-killing face.
What kind of treatment is this? It's way too good!
*
One moment, she was a timid girl in ancient times, sent into the mountains as a sacrificial bride to be eaten by a four-armed curse.
The next, she was a wealthy widow from a hundred years ago, still waiting to hear the news that her husband had gone missing and died, listening dumbfounded as a sorcerer said to be an onmyoji consoled her: "I'm terribly sorry we couldn't find your late husband's body."
She could also be a haggard woman standing outside a vacant apartment in the modern era, looking at an anonymous text from an unknown sender: "There's something suspicious about your husband's death."
Or a servant bride in the Heian era, assigned to care for the sickly but astonishingly ill-tempered young master of the Ubuyashiki family, and sincerely hoping he would die.
Those flying in the sky, running on the ground, swimming in the sea: the list of husbands whose deaths left her inheritances, no, her late husbands, includes but is not limited to:
Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time: I can embrace you even with a sword in my hand. When will my four-armed husband finally catch prion disease?
Taisho Era: He and You, Separated by the Worlds of Humans and Demons: Could the vanished Kamo Noritoshi please stay gone?
Is He Dead? If He Is, Then He Is: A Black Organization mole faking his death.
Our Relationship Can't See the Sunlight: When will young master Ubuyashiki finally kick the bucket?
And a long list of other people, familiar and unfamiliar.
In short.
Yuka pressed the start button and began her romantic journey as a beautiful widow (or widows).
Inheritable assets from previous playthroughs, events she could jump between at will, and settings worlds apart from her own life.
To Yuka, it was just a colorful game world where she didn't have to think about responsibility at all.
But she never expected that some late husbands who had died long ago would glitch out and suddenly kick open their coffin lids while she was happily dating paper-thin characters.
Not only were they not dead, they could run around everywhere. Terrifying.

So.
Eager to inherit the assets and clear the game, Yuka had an idea.
...How exactly could she make her husband die one more time?
Then she looked at the love-interest queue in her hand.
