Honkai: Star Rail: The Great Gamble Over a Gift

While buying laboratory equipment, Dr. Ratio received a complimentary gift that had been passed along as a favor.

The gift had a terrible record, an empty head, and a gift for smooth talk.

The only things worth praising were his dazzling, vase-like looks and his fabled luck.

But Dr. Ratio cared nothing for looks and didn't believe in luck.

Still, the company was so insistent. Looking at the downcast little peacock, his tail feathers drooping to the ground,

Dr. Ratio could only reluctantly accept him.

.

Word spread that a gambler from the Strategic Investment Department had lost big, costing the company a fortune.

The employees were astonished, yet felt it was only to be expected.

How could the scales of fortune possibly tip in his favor every time?

Mr. Aventurine, the subject of their gossip, cowered pitifully in his cage, letting his golden bangs fall over his calm gaze.

It was just a matter of changing to another gambling table.

Sensing Dr. Ratio's occasional glances, Aventurine quietly curled his lips into a smile, swept his hair behind his ear, and revealed the earring he had deliberately left on.

The pretty earring swayed precariously beneath the dazzling lights.

No one knew better than him how to climb the ladder quickly.

(What if Aventurine were a slave given to his adoptive father by the company...)

(Studying the unfathomable nature of luck is also part of exploring the world of truth, isn't it?)

.

(What do I care about characterization or whether it makes sense? I just want to see them go at it, until the sky goes dark and the sun and moon disappear.)
