Childhood Friend, Stop Pretending

[Sensitive, high-strung bottom x perceptive, tight-lipped top]

Xia Jin has a defeatist personality, a beautiful flower whose exterior is well-behaved, but whose heart is close to withering.

Whenever he runs into difficulties at university, he immediately gives up.

Whenever life doesn't go his way, he immediately wants to die.

Later, whenever he gets a difficult assignment at work, he immediately wants to quit.

So when he realizes he's developed feelings for his childhood friend, Bian Che, he decisively chooses to distance himself and lie flat.

Who could have guessed that one day, an accident would leave Xia Jin unable to get back on his feet, completely wrecked. Trembling, he grabbed his clothes and tried to run.

And run he did, for five years.

Five years later, thanks to their landlady's enthusiastic welcome, they unexpectedly meet again and become neighbors.

At the office during the day, they act like strangers. Xia Jin is the boss, while Bian Che is a subordinate who's just there to experience life. Their relationship is simple and professional, and no one would ever think to connect them.

At night, Bian Che kisses Xia Jin's lips until they're swollen and nearly breaks the bed, making it creak nonstop.

Afterward, breathing hard and eyes wide, Xia Jin can't help running his mouth: "You don't look like this is your first time."

"It happened once, a few years ago." Bian Che slowly blows out a cloud of smoke, dark and damp. "You didn't want me. You ran away. I've been looking for you."

It sounds kind of scary. Xia Jin pouts and buries his face in the pillow. "What will you do when you find me?"

"Fuck you to death."

Later, rumors go around the office that Xia Jin might have a crush on Bian Che.

Xia Jin is so triggered he turns the tables completely. "That's so fake! Why not say he's the one who's secretly in love with me!"

A manager who's close to Bian Che is stunned and whispers, "How did you know?"
