Huo Rong is a hoodlum in Fengsha City, notorious for picking fights, throwing his weight around, and doing whatever he pleases.
Street vendors lower their voices when they see him coming, and passersby give him a wide berth. Even dogs tuck their tails between their legs and scurry away when he passes.
Then one day, a delicate-looking young man threw himself into Huo Rong's arms in the middle of the street, calling him husband over and over.
Everyone saw Huo Rong's dark expression and assumed the young man had mistaken him for someone else. Today, they thought, he was in for a world of trouble.
But to everyone's surprise, Huo Rong didn't lose his temper. Instead, he took the young man home and looked after him, making sure he had plenty of good food and drink. He even stopped getting into trouble.
Just like that, the fearsome Huo Rong turned over a new leaf.
At first, Huo Rong thought the whole thing was a huge pain.
Some shameless young man had come out of nowhere, thrown himself at Huo Rong as he left the gambling den, and sobbed as he called him husband.
Huo Rong was a perfectly respectable man who had never even been with anyone, yet his brothers had mistaken him for a heartless cad.
He couldn't explain himself. Then he saw the young man's soft, delicate skin and big, sparkling eyes, and in a moment of madness, took him home. He never expected to end up with a little ancestor on his hands.
A soybean could leave a bruise on his back. Coarse cloth chafed his neck raw, and even a bowl of brown rice porridge scraped his throat.
For the sake of this pampered little ancestor, a hoodlum who had always lived one day at a time had to start budgeting carefully and saving up to buy him fine cloth and good rice.
Before he knew it, Huo Rong had fallen for him. The only thing that irked him was that this little ancestor insisted to his dying breath that they were already married.
Huo Rong patiently said, "Even at this point, I'd still take care of you if you stopped making things up."
Meng Yuan shook his head sadly. "Everything I said was true. You're the one who doesn't remember, husband." He looked on the verge of tears.
Huo Rong could only give up and drop the subject.
But then, one thing after another happened just as Meng Yuan had said it would!
Could Meng Yuan really be right? Had Huo Rong forgotten?
Huo Rong fell into deep thought.
