Lian Nong is a pretty fool: silly, spoiled, and fussy, with nothing going for him but his looks.
No matter. To be the Insect Emperor's cherished wife, looking good is all that matters.
But on the day Lian Nong marries the Insect Emperor, he gets the whole story spoiled for him: he'll soon be sacrificed alongside his husband, because his husband is the villainous boss.
Ludwig, the Insect Emperor, is a textbook handsome, powerful, tragic villain who fights his way up. He's cold, volatile, and a workaholic.
Before long, the Insect Emperor will be defeated by the heroes, and Lian Nong, as his Empress, will have to die with him.
Lian Nong doesn't want to die! He has to act immediately and save his husband.
But Lian Nong is just a pretty little ornament by the Insect Emperor's side, a sheltered canary and parasitic flower, with no influence or means of his own.
Lian Nong is troubled. He looks at his husband, working coldly and mercilessly, and can think of only one plan with his little brain:
Whispering sweet nothings in his husband's ear.
-
Lian Nong x Ludwig
A foolish, pampered wife is forced to become the emperor's enchanting consort, whispering in his ear to sway him.
The protagonist is the gong; Lian Nong is the gong.
This story has a highly idiosyncratic insect-world setting, not the standard version.
P.S. I personally don't like calling the gong a male insect and the shou a female insect. It seems like gender-swapping the gong and feminizing the shou, and I really can't write that. If I ever publish this, I'll make major changes to the worldbuilding.
