I Heard You're My Partner

[This is an idea I've been sitting on for a while. I might revise it later and take it in an infinite-world direction, but that's not certain, just a possibility.]

The year is 2050. It has been twenty years since the supernatural first appeared.

Twenty years ago, the world was suddenly plunged into three days of darkness. When the light returned, the world had changed.

First, a small number of humans awakened special abilities. Then the supernatural beings appeared.

Human awakenings happen without any discernible pattern, but the supernatural beings follow certain signs. They may gather from negative emotions, or come from all kinds of folk legends... They are things beyond human imagination, bizarre and uncanny.

As humans fought against the supernatural, the Supernatural Investigation Bureau was established. Over the past twenty years, Xi Mingyao has been recognized as the strongest. He is the light of hope for humanity. As long as he is here, humanity cannot lose.

Power often comes with arrogance, but he is an easygoing, cheerful, warm-hearted man.

One day, just after he had slain a supernatural being, with blood still on the tip of his blade, a young man threw his arms around him and said in a clear voice, "I heard you're my partner?"

He had never even flinched in the face of the most powerful supernatural beings, but that day he was stunned. "He didn't tell me my partner only came up to my chest, or that he was still a little kid who hadn't even grown a single hair."

One day in the future,

Xi Mingyao nudged the head nestled against his chest. "You're almost as tall as me now. Doesn't this feel awkward anymore?"

Wu Yutui grumbled and took a bite. "Do you remember when we first met? You called me short and said I was a little kid who hadn't grown a single hair. Do you still think that now?"

Xi Mingyao caught the restless little tentacle. "I was wrong." He had no idea what he was wrong about, but admitting it was the best choice.

"I'm still young. Will you be gentle with me?"

The result of Xi Mingyao's soft heart was that, despite his extraordinary physical strength, he couldn't get out of bed.

Note: 1. Wu Yutui is the top! Wu Yutui is the top! Wu Yutui is the top! Important things must be said three times.

2. Both are each other's first and only. Wu Yutui is the top, and the romance is very sweet.

3. Neither protagonist is human. Wu Yutui has tentacles, and Xi Mingyao is the incarnation of a sun (not the sun in their world).

4. This is an alternate history! An alternate history! An alternate history! Art comes from life but surpasses it. Please don't conflate the novel with reality.
