Another Her

Secret crush / rekindled love

A cool on the outside, gentle within, wild race-car driver x a bright and sweet inheritor of the huqin tradition

1.

Lin Ting is the top student in her year at Beisheng High School. She's beautiful and well-behaved, performed onstage at the age of six, and became the provincial arts-track top scorer at sixteen.

No one knows that Lin Ting has a rebellious heart.

Jiang Ye is nothing like Lin Ting. He's cold and roguish, like a gust of wind, bound by no restraints. Yet he possesses the freedom Lin Ting longs for.

Everyone says Lin Ting is pretty and sweet-tempered, and that the aloof Jiang Ye is only ever gentle and obedient around her. He must be in love with her.

At first, Lin Ting thinks so too.

2.

For all three years of high school, Lin Ting is Jiang Ye's only deskmate. At the graduation party, someone asks Jiang Ye, "Did you ever like your deskmate?"

Jiang Ye: "No."

"No way! Your deskmate is the school beauty everyone has a crush on! Fair-skinned, gorgeous, and long-legged! You weren't even tempted?"

Jiang Ye sits by the bonfire, its light accentuating his delicate features. The small mole at the corner of his eye looks alluring and seductive. He glances at the other person, nonchalant. "If you like her, go after her!"

Lin Ting's face goes deathly pale. Her fingers dig into her palm as she bites her lip. The bonfire shines on her face, yet she still feels cold.

3.

Many years later, Lin Ting sees Jiang Ye again. The man wears a crisp suit and is tall and lean, leaning against the bar as he chats with the bartender.

A woman walks up to flirt with him. He gives her a cold glance, his long, slender fingers rubbing the glass.

Lin Ting meets his cool gaze and abruptly lowers her head. In a corner where no one notices, her heart pounds wildly, as if it might leap out of her throat.

After all these years apart, the longing in her heart swells without limit.

"What's wrong, Miss Lin?" her blind date asks.

Lin Ting shakes her head, eyes red, and turns toward the restroom.

She scoops up some water and splashes it on her face, finally feeling clearheaded.

Suddenly, a shadow falls over her from behind, and a familiar citrus scent wafts toward her...

Her slender fingers dig into her palm again.

She hears the man's deep, magnetic voice at her ear. "Baby, are you on a blind date? Are you crazy, or am I?"

Lin Ting's long lashes tremble. The small mole at the corner of her eye, just like his, shines under the lights.

No one knows that she and Jiang Ye share a secret.

-

Another version of her, one who doesn't love him.

Both leads are sexually inexperienced, both are sexually inexperienced, and the author is very particular about that.
