1.

Xia Tinglan coaxed Lin Guan, teasing him on purpose. He spread his arms and spun around, giving him a 360-degree view, then said, “Me! Xia Tinglan! The best person in the world! Even more angelic than an angel! I won't dock your pay this time!”

The little golden retriever on the ground got itself tangled up in its leash because of his showy antics. It panted, nearly choking to death, and barked at Xia Tinglan.

Lin Guan laughed. “Angel, your dog doesn't agree!”

2.

Lin Guan had heard Jiang Jiaqi complain about Xia Tinglan being spoiled more than once, saying he even carried a parasol on overcast days, and that no boy at their school was like that.

But Lin Guan was fiercely protective. Putting an arm around Xia Tinglan, he said to Jiang Jiaqi, “Are there any boys at school as good-looking as our Princess Xia?”

Jiang Jiaqi was dumbfounded.

Lin Guan kept going. “He's so tall, so fair, so handsome, so refined...”

His bragging made Jiang Jiaqi's heart ache. He cursed his childhood friend, who had been blinded by beauty: “Even if he's that good-looking, can he be your wife?”

Lin Guan: “...”

3.

Xia Tinglan was a little schemer. Every time he argued with Jiang Jiaqi, he went to Lin Guan and cried, even though he'd clearly gotten the better of Jiang Jiaqi. He still made Lin Guan comfort him, and Jiang Jiaqi called him an 182-centimeter-tall male Daji.

But Lin Guan had already become King Zhou. Pointing at the textbook, he looked down at the whole class and said, “What era are we living in? Something happens and you still blame Daji!!!”

Jiang Jiaqi and the whole class: “...”

Xia Tinglan was a beam of light, illuminating Lin Guan's barren heart.
