Jiang Yueting was by the window organizing her lesson plans when her phone vibrated beside the desk: [You're so slow.]

She glanced down, then put it back in the drawer and continued working, completely absorbed.

Ten minutes later, she sighed, got up, and went next door to ask Mo Xunhe, "What is it this time? I was gone for only half an hour."

The warm white light seemed to melt into Mo Xunhe as he leaned back on the sofa, rolling his hearing aid between his fingers. He looked up, wounded beyond all reason. "My ear hurts so much."

"Because it's raining?"

"The rain hasn't been ignoring me."

The teacher's apartment was dark. The man waited behind the door, leaning against the entryway, a spark of light glowing between his fingers. His head was bowed, and no one could tell what he was thinking.

Only when he heard a man and a woman talking outside, their footsteps overlapping in obvious intimacy, did Mo Xunhe suddenly smile.

The instant the door opened, before Jiang Yueting could even gasp, someone pulled her tightly into his arms and covered her mouth. His familiar, warm breath fell against her ear.

Late that night, Jiang Yueting pushed at him with all her strength, letting out a broken, tearful whimper. "Mm... Put it on, put it on."

Her fingertips sank into softness. Mo Xunhe lifted his lips from beneath her, smiling as he tossed the hearing aid even farther away. "Be good. Stop thinking about leaving me all the time."

"I'm afraid that all my efforts will come to nothing, so I naturally assumed everyone felt the same. But there is one person who embraces the whole world without weighing the cost, including me, with all my mess.", Jiang Yueting

"If I can't hear the rain, the doorbell, or 'good night,' then please stand in front of me. Even if you're far away, I'll come closer to you.", Mo Xunhe
