Spring Is Never Late

Du Yingniang’s cruel stepmother forced her to marry the foolish son of a wealthy family in the village. Refusing the match, she jumped into an icy pool and was rescued by a passing hunter, Zhao Yuanshan.

The villagers all saw Zhao Yuanshan carry her out of the water. When the foolish young man’s family heard about it, they no longer wanted to marry her. Du Yingniang’s stepmother came storming over to demand compensation from Zhao Yuanshan. With no other choice, Zhao Yuanshan gathered the money his grandmother had saved for medical care and his own wedding and paid her off.

After dying once, Du Yingniang came to her senses. A miserable life was better than death. Since the man had saved her and paid money on her behalf, she went to serve him tea and water to repay his kindness.

Zhao Yuanshan was nearly twenty and still unmarried. His family was poor, and his elderly grandmother was blind, so no one wanted their daughter to marry him. He had saved Du Yingniang without giving it much thought, never expecting that she would be determined to stay by his side.

At first, he resented having spent all the money he had painstakingly saved on Du Yingniang and worried that he had taken on another burden. But Du Yingniang was quick and capable, taking good care of his grandmother and keeping the whole house spotless. Perhaps it wasn’t so bad to let her stay.

[One-on-one romance, both leads are virgins, happy ending]
