Synopsis:
Gu Ying got engaged to his childhood friend, Ning Shufeng.
Ning Shufeng was the sort of person who drew everyone's eyes wherever he went. When people learned how Gu Ying felt about him, they all urged Gu Ying to think carefully and warned him that he might not even remain friends with Ning Shufeng.
But Gu Ying confessed, and it worked.
Then something went wrong during their honeymoon.
On the first floor of the hotel, Gu Ying saw a monster. It wore human clothes but didn't look human. It rushed at him with a strange, rasping cry, and he killed it while fighting back.
When he turned around, Ning Shufeng was on the stairs asking why he was just standing there. Gu Ying looked back again, and the monster's body and the bloodstains had all vanished.
Gu Ying was the only one who could see the monsters. He was diagnosed with mental illness, and no one believed him.
Fortunately, Ning Shufeng was willing to stay by his side through treatment, and even told him that he wasn't sick.
Gu Ying asked his childhood friend if he could see them too.
Ning Shufeng kissed his cheek, silently answering his question.
But, aside from occasionally seeing things others couldn't and killing monsters to level up, Gu Ying gradually realized that the whole world was growing strange...
Especially Ning Shufeng. He had changed.
Ning Shufeng became unusually clingy. He used to be elegant and well-mannered, but now he asked Gu Ying for kisses in public and wouldn't let him get too close to other men, women, or even other creatures. At night, he insisted on doing this and that with him.
On top of that, Ning Shufeng's temperament grew gloomy. The terrifying expressions that flashed across his face now and then made Gu Ying shudder, though he would then convince himself he'd only imagined it.
Gu Ying began to sense that something was wrong.
For instance, Ning Shufeng hid their old photo albums. He asked Gu Ying if he wanted to have a child. And one night, when Gu Ying woke up, Ning Shufeng was watching him with his eyes open...
Gu Ying reassured himself that they were living a happy, ordinary married life. They just happened to kill a few monsters that other people couldn't see from time to time.
Until one day, a man collapsed on the ground, coughing up blood as he shouted for Gu Ying to run. The area within a ten-mile radius was the domain of an S-rank aberrant creature.
Gu Ying looked up in shock
He saw Ning Shufeng: tall and perfectly built, with a handsome, chilling face. Behind him, tentacles as thick as thighs, slick with transparent mucus, burst out and pierced straight through the man's chest.
In the same affectionate tone he used every day, Ning Shufeng said, "Xiao Ying, did you see a monster again?"
