The Celestials invaded, the Hua people fell, and the samurai of the Land of the Rising Sun became relics of the past. The only sword-bearing domain left in the world was Wuzhou.
After the Incident at Yoshiwara, Tokugawa Sada Sada's great house came crashing down. Tokugawa Shige Shige, the current Seii Taishogun, submitted his resignation, which the Emperor had yet to approve. Even so, the sun was already setting on his rule. At this moment, Princess Matsudaira Miyo of Wuzhou went against the tide and came to the capital, agreeing to discuss marriage with Tokugawa Shige Shige. This was the strongest show of support Wuzhou could offer him.
"I've decided to stay in Edo for the time being as Lord Shige Shige's advisor. Lord Shige Shige also promised me that he wouldn't bring up marriage until his ideals have been realized. Maybe we'll fall in love while working together, hehe."
The Tokugawa faction, the Hitotsubashi faction, and the many other forces, each with their own armed followers, watched one another like tigers circling their prey. Besides bringing Wuzhou's support, Matsudaira Miyo seemed to have brought the ominous shadow of [that organization] as well. The skies over Oedo were as bustling as ever.
The story begins after the Yoshiwara in Flames arc and ends with the Shogun Assassination arc.
