1. Siren
Their faces shone like the morning glow, and their voices were wondrous beyond compare. Cursed for refusing to sing for the gods, they became monsters, half human and half bird. Even so, they still refused to submit.
This proud being sang only for me.
“I will give you everything I have, though nothing else is worth anything besides this voice of mine.”
2. Dragon
A dragon with a cognitive disorder can't tell the difference between jewels and me. We spend our days snuggling, hugging, and smooching.
All right, his drool doesn't stink. It even smells kind of nice, so I suppose I'll... put up with it. [Sobs]
3. Centaur
Everyone says centaurs are the most loathsome monsters in the world. Their blood is highly poisonous, and clothes made from their hides burn whoever wears them alive.
They are violent and lecherous.
Only I know none of that is true.
4. Cordyceps
I've been infected by an alien fungus resembling cordyceps. It has taken root inside me, absorbing my flesh and blood as it grows at an incredible rate.
It has become conscious. It speaks from within me, trying to understand everything about me and communicate with me.
I don't hate it.
5. Puppet
He said he was a puppet who couldn't feel pain. No matter how many times he was smashed to pieces, he could always be put back together. He couldn't die or get sick, and he couldn't feel sadness or pain.
He used to be human.
6. Xenomorph
To save me, my boyfriend joined a suicide squad and went to another star system to explore an uncharted region.
He came back looking unlike any creature on Earth. He had lost his memories, his reason, and everything else. All he had left was his life and an instinct to stay close to me.
