Ozawa Chiyo is an RPG enthusiast who loves grinding her stats to the max. When her friend pushes a highly customizable dating sim on her, Chiyo has never played a romance game before, but she's confident that all games follow similar rules, so she creates a male character.
Friend: ...You want to do the pure-love route?
Chiyo: What? I just thought male characters start with a slightly higher strength stat... Even if female characters are more agile... a real man should embrace the aesthetics of violence!
Friend: ...Fine, we'll let the gender slide, but I'll make your character's face :) I refuse to let you play a wonderful romance game with the default face!
As you'd expect from an art student, her friend works some magic, and Chiyo's character gets an astonishingly high appearance score of 90 right from the start.
Chiyo: Is good looks really that important?
Friend: Yes!!!
After some initial setup, Chiyo finally creates her account. A male character named Kashiwagi So appears on the screen, and the girl eagerly starts grinding.
[Ding! In-game character Gin has sent you a party invite.]
[Would you like to accept?]
Chiyo blinks in confusion at the pop-up that suddenly appears on the screen, then opens the profile of the silver-haired boy who seems to have come out of nowhere.
[Name: Gin Level: 10]
Chiyo: ...Only level 10? That's so low!
She looks at her own level 20, which she worked so hard to grind up, and rejects him without a second thought.
Chiyo: If you're bad, just practice more! I'm rejecting your party invite so you can't leech experience. I'm soloing the dungeons!
So, after playing diligently for a week and maxing out nearly all her stats, Chiyo proudly shows her friend the results of her hard work. Her friend responds by flicking her on the forehead.
Friend: Who plays a dating sim like this?! Go apologize to the game developers! You romance-repellent disaster!
Under her friend's supervision, Chiyo creates a female character, looking deeply aggrieved: Sniff qwq
But as soon as she finishes creating the female character, Chiyo collapses in front of her computer from having played nonstop for days. By the time she wakes up, her world has changed beyond recognition--
[The Detective Conan special project is about to begin! A special chapter will be added to the manga to introduce a new character!]
A strange voice suddenly appears in Chiyo's mind. Then something like scrolling comments appears before her eyes.
[Huh? Is this the new character? So cute!]
[She's wearing a police uniform. Is she going to the police academy? Speaking of the police academy, we have to mention those five...]
[Don't go! Are those five the five I think they are?]
