A friend is going abroad on vacation and asks Su He to look after their Maine Coon for a while.
The Maine Coon is tall and imposing, with a thick coat and a handsome, spirited look. It just has a rather cold stare.
Cat lover Su He ignores its frosty expression, scoops it into her arms, and settles into life as a cat owner.
Feeding, brushing, cleaning, going for walks...
Su He researches Maine Coon behavior and takes good care of it, but this particular cat is a little strange.
Maine Coons are said to be gentle and affectionate, but this one often turns its cold feline face away from her, its motionless tail practically spelling out how aloof it is.
Maine Coons are said to look like domineering CEOs but secretly be little princesses who long for kisses and cuddles from their owners. This one acts as if a single hug might kill it, and getting it to sleep in her arms takes outright force.
Maine Coons are said to be energetic and need a daily walk. This one won't budge unless Su He threatens, "If you don't move, I'm going to kiss you."
One day, Su He takes the cat for a checkup and finds the veterinarian rather handsome. The two exchange contact information.
That night, the Maine Coon jumps onto her bed of its own accord and sleeps in her arms.
Overjoyed, Su He spends a few blissful days with the cat. Then her friend comes home.
Su He returns the cat. Seeing its reluctant gaze, she leans in to kiss its ear and promises, "I'll miss you. I'll come see you in a few days."
But summer vacation is nearly over, and she's sent to stay at her grandmother's for ten days.
When Su He walks out of the alley on the day she returns, she sees a tall figure.
A young man dressed in black stands beneath the big tree at the mouth of the alley, leaning against its trunk. He glances up at her, his posture straight and his eyes bright.
"Didn't you say you'd come see me?"

Bo Jian turned into a cat and was sent by his younger sister to stay at her friend Su He's home.
He still remembers Su He asking for his phone number the first time they met. Even with a cold feline face, he couldn't stop her from petting him all over every day, or from hearing her mutter that his personality was just like Bo Jian's.
He put up with it for several days, until the day of his checkup, when Su He asked for the veterinarian's number.
That vet was kind of handsome.
Bo Jian: ??? She doesn't like me?
Reading Guide:
1. The plot probably doesn't make much sense.
2. Written while I was feeling out of it.
3. It won't be too long (probably).
Inspired by making eye contact today with the cold, heartless cat at home.
I'm terrible at blurbs.
Theme: Cats can love, too.
