[The story is complete. Thank you for supporting the official release.] [The author's other stories, "Kira-kun's Volleyball" and "How a Cat Survives at Inarizaki," are complete.] ----Story blurb---- Two months after the new students enrolled, an unexpected transfer student joined the Itachiyama volleyball club. As everyone wondered what the newcomer would be like, the next moment... A boy with short white hair and glassy gray eyes appeared at the entrance. The first impression everyone had of Hojo Asahi: A cool, handsome type... He seems hard to approach. This is bad, they already have Sakusa, who's gloomy and a germaphobe. But the moment Asahi opened his mouth, their impression of him as aloof shattered. "Whoa~ So this is what a club in the big city is like. It's so fancy." A fluent Kansai accent, a goofy expression, and wide-open eyes. Everyone looked at each other: He's a little country puppy... Once they learned that Asahi, despite looking like a cool guy, was actually a sweet, clueless Samoyed, the people at Itachiyama were thoroughly satisfied with club life. Because their adorable doggo would trot after them, full of warmth and sincerity. "Hey, senpai, do you need any help?" "Whoa, senpai, you're amazing! You're so cool!" "As expected of you, senpai~" "Sakusa, Sakusa! How does your wrist go swish and then snap like that? It's so amazing, it's like a special move!!" "Motoya, how do you catch the ball and then swoosh backward like that? Awesome~" Every day, everyone was immersed in the dog's enthusiasm and couldn't get enough of it. Including Sakusa, who was famous for being gloomy. Until match day... After the bright and sunny Asahi landed a powerful spike, he smiled at the other team and said: "Whoa, your blocks are like earthworms in a field: soft and gross." "Are you really a middle blocker? Pfft, I don't mean anything by it, I just think you look like a soccer player. It's like you don't use your arms at all." Itachiyama's team looked at the doggo, who seemed to have been possessed by the Ultimate Trash-Talker. Itachiyama: ...Who are you? Sks, who was also a trash-talker: Much better. Just when everyone thought the doggo had only two sides... The version of him who played matches: "Everyone! Cheer and scream for the one and only me!" The boy's figure was full of confidence, like a king being crowned. He was a master of chasing down balls and hitting them with brutal force. The stunned spectators: Is this guy playing basketball? Teammates: He's... he's so cool. Doggo: Huh? I used to be a small forward. The version of him after the match: He walked with his arms and legs out of sync, put food up his nose while eating, and turned into a complete blabbering mess. Itachiyama: Did someone remove your brainstem? Sks: So he's an idiot, huh. Doggo: Blah blah, drooling. Sks: ...That's gross. From basketball to volleyball, from small forward to outside hitter. From the helplessness and fear he felt facing the hoop to the freedom of soaring above the net now. Every step Asahi took was a new beginning. He thought: Dreams don't shatter just because reality does. If that's the case, he could just change his dream and keep moving forward. Because he had always been walking toward the light! His new goal: the number one outside hitter in the country!! Pairing: Sks. The romance is in the bonus chapters; the main story focuses on daily life and matches.
