Systems are beings that can lead people to the peak of success and give them happy, fulfilling lives. They are all-powerful in their own fields, overcome every challenge, and eventually collect enough energy to retire.
Recently, a group of powerful Systems nearing retirement set their sights on the perfect place to spend their golden years:
The mental sea of a six-year-old child.
Pure and clean, brimming with energy. It couldn't be more perfect.
So the Systems fought over the child's mental sea. They battled until the world shook and mountains crumbled. Even when the fight devolved into a stream of curses and insults, no one emerged as the victor.
Then the child spoke.
"Please don't fight, you guys. You can all live here together! I'll build you lovely little houses, okay?"
The Systems stopped fighting and looked at the Host they'd chosen to inhabit.
Beneath the grime, the child's eyes shone brightly. His skin was pale, his features delicate, and his eyes held nothing but sincerity and earnestness.
The Systems: ...He seems pretty good, actually?
The Systems called a temporary truce and settled happily into their own little houses. But then they suddenly realized that the child they'd chosen seemed to be having an awful lot of... a rough time.
No parents, living off garbage he scavenged, and, under interstellar law, destined to be a lower-class citizen for life, without even the right to go to school.
The Systems: We're furious! (fists) (fists) (fists)
And so the Systems went further and further in their efforts to help the child, issuing all kinds of simple missions just to make his life better and better.
But a few little accidents happened along the way.
The Money System pointed at a coin by the side of the road and said, "See that coin? Pick it up, and you'll meet a big shot right away and earn your first fortune."
The child frowned. "No. If I pick it up, I have to give it to the police."
The Money System: "..."
The Strength System said confidently, "See that thug? Slap him, and you'll unlock an SSS-rank physique right away."
The child said solemnly, "It's wrong to hit people. You shouldn't hit people for no reason."
The Strength System: "..."
The Top Student System said haughtily, "See the ticket in that boy's pocket? Steal it and enter the competition. You'll make a name for yourself in academia and earn everyone's admiration."
The child shook his head. "No. He might have worked really hard to get it."
The Top Student System: "..."
The Systems were completely at a loss. They planned to give up and even considered using their retirement energy to give the child a perfect life.
But what they never expected was that the child reached the peak of success without their help anyway?
The child waited beside the coin to return it to whoever had lost it. Instead, a powerful couple saw his good character and asked if they could adopt him.
The child didn't hit the thug. He even gave him a piece of bread. The thug went on to train hard and become a boxing champion, then spent his whole life treating the child like his little brother?
The child went over to remind the boy to put his ticket away safely, but the boy latched onto him instead. After becoming a renowned research scientist across the stars, he handed over a salary card loaded with eleven figures and millions of properties, asked to marry the child, and even wanted to meet his parents (the Systems)???
The Systems: "..."
No, no! That last one is absolutely out of the question! Nobody's taking our child away from us!!!
P.S. I want to write about a cute, well-behaved baby. Hehe, hehehe.
A cute baby with a cute cover, a perfect match!
